Slideshow: Southern Ocean

Posted by Irene onboard the Esperanza

This was supposed to be posted yesterday, in relation to the anniversary of the Madrid Protocol. But I didn't manage to finish it on time, and in the end Elaine had to come and pull me out of the "Flash swamp". But here it is:

photographer Jiri Rezac's observations on board the Esperanza in the Southern Ocean.

WOW

how amazing, and how fortunate for Greenpeace to have a photographer like you Jiri. Breathtaking portraits, imaging, and capturing the moment. ...and your narrative was kick butt too. Thanks Jiri for this beautiful and profound start to my morning, ...GC

Incredible; it must me a great experience to be there.

Beautiful, wauw!!

The photos and commentary completely transported me to this stunning location. Thank you for giving perspective to my day!!!!

WOOOAH!... I finally found a few minutes in the day to sit back and enjoy this slideshow. And the photos are just absolutely stunning, really so beautiful. Thanks Jiri and Irene for taking/ sharing them.
It really is so important to be reminded what this is all about from time to time, and to see those images makes it all clear. They are what we should focus our energies on.. the world that we want to see and bear witness to. I think Greenpeace really have the balance right between showing the stark reality and cruelty of whaling and contrasting it to what they are prepared to campaign hard for - ie the power, majesty and beauty of the whales and their breathtaking natural surrounds. I know what image I want to see prevail in the world, which is why I am behind you 110%.
Thank you Greenpeace and all of the crew of the Esperanza for everything you do, and for protecting the whales.
Please take care and stay safe.
