Mr Splashy Pants goes viral!
Posted by Irene onboard the Esperanza

- Mr Splashy Pants t-shirts
- A Mr S.P Facebook group
- There is a Mr Splashy Pants bumper sticker
- The popular link site Reddit rebranded their logo.
Somewhere out there is a Mr Splashy Pants fan with muscle ache: this person found a way to vote more than one time, and decided to do so, peaking at about 150 clicks per minute (we have removed the clicks as we felt it was a bit unfair).
Due to the great interest in our whale naming competition we decided to hold it open for a bit longer, the last chance to have your say will be the 7th of December. I still cheer for Veikko, but it looks like Mr Splashy Pants will be hard to beat.
Now we just have to make sure that Mr Splashy Pants doesn't get harpooned - don't forget to send a letter to the heads of Germany, U.S., Chile and Brazil, and ask them to call on Japan's Prime Minister to stop whaling.

This is just hilarious.
I want a T-shirt :-) Also, which Facebook group? It looks like there are two:
Friends of Mistery Splashy Pants
Mister Splashy Pants
I joined the latter.

Actually, we do know who suggested it. I was the judge who had the particular block of 2,000 names (there were 11,000 entries) that contained MSP. It was Omar Zayed, and he set up the Facebook group here:

Huh? Whales don't wear pants.
Posted by: Mighty Mike O. | December 6, 2007 12:10 AM
Ahh, this is fantastic. I really hope that you Greenpeace losers actually name your boat "Mr. Splashypants. It would make you an even bigger joke than you already are.
Posted by: Joe | December 6, 2007 12:26 AM
Give it up. He's Mister Splashypants and no amount of delaying is going to prevent Mister Splashypants.
If he's a Miss, then it'd be Miss Splashypants.
Down with politically correct names!

You misspelled "peeking;" you meant "peaking."
Posted by: Shanni | December 6, 2007 4:33 AM
They need to run with it, it is advertising genius. Mr Splashy Pants could be the next kid's toy.
Posted by: Brooke | December 6, 2007 5:10 AM
Peaking. Dolt.

All your Mr. Splashy Pants are belong to FARK.
LOL
Posted by: maria | December 6, 2007 5:59 AM
Where on earth did you get the idea that we don’t like Mr Splashy Pants!? It was a name suggested by a supporter and chosen to stay in the competition, amongst more than a thousand! You can still cast your vote, which you do on this page here.
Posted by: Irene | December 6, 2007 7:18 AM
You would have more credibility if you learned the difference between peeking and peaking.
Posted by: ken | December 6, 2007 3:00 PM
I hope Greenpeace doesn't take themselves too seriously over this issue. People who don't care one bit about the environment are suddenly going gaga over Mr. Splashy Pants. I read somewhere that Mr. Splashy Pants is the only son of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, who so loved the world that he gave his only son, Mister Splashy Pants, so that any who vote for him shall not perish but shall always feel the caress of his noodly appendage.
Posted by: Bucky | December 6, 2007 3:43 PM
Way up here we kill whales and seals to eat, clothing and for fuel. You people are fools.
Posted by: Inuit | December 6, 2007 3:52 PM
Let's name him Dinner or maybe "Retirement Fund"
Posted by: Arlo | December 6, 2007 8:32 PM
The earth will survive man, no matter how hypocritical the tree-huggers are. Ethanol? Batteries? Cars are still made of plastic, steel, and rubber.
Whale should be named "Mr. Hypocrite"
Posted by: Merlin | December 6, 2007 8:49 PM
Summon the power of Fark.Com - that's why splashy pants is winning, not facebook.
Posted by: Skaetur | December 6, 2007 8:59 PM
