Mir - technical assistant

I've been an activist for almost twenty years, and my first Greenpeace action was in 1993, protesting European sales of plutonium to Japan. I've been working on the ships since 2001, but this is my first time sailing in the Pacific and the Southern Ocean.
It's now next to impossible to find a single drop of ocean that is not polluted with plastics and other products created over the present era of human history. The whale slaughter in the Southern Ocean is just one of the worst examples of the long arm of industrial society plundering the last beautiful corners of Earth. I believe one of our most important roles as activists is to resist this trend and protect nature's life-support systems during the final years of the oil age, as well as to support traditional societies and preserve the knowledge and practices that will allow us to survive into the future.
I love sailing, but to come on board I have to detach myself from my environmental work in Panama, most recently with the Almanaque Azul project and with my dear sisters and brothers of the Grupo Activista Ambiental. That is probably the hardest part of this job.

Hopefully you are not "green under the gills" from the typhoon. : ) Please let Irene know I did not mean to offend anyone by wishing them a "happy thanksgiving" and just forgot not everyone shares the same holiday's as us "obnoxious americans" as she so eloquently put it...lol I so commend all of you for doing this and can't wait to hear how you intercepted their mission and saved the whales. I tried to update my profile, but to no avail so I do apologize and will keep trying. This way I hope no one thinks I am weird for commenting...lol Have a great day and stay safe.

The weather looks beautiful. Oh how I miss the sea. Are you guys close to them? What about the language? Does everyone know how to speak the various languages? Poor Heath he is getting a bum rap...lol Someone has to be the one picked on...lol I know growing up I was because I am so short...lol Well do tell all about your days and how everyone spends their days. Que tal Mir. Mi hermanazo del alma! Hace unos días me enteré por medio de Vladimir del Moral que estabas en el barco Esperanza y hoy el amigo Milko envió una nota con fotos. Te prometo que publicaré tu lucha a favor de las ballenas en la pagina del periodico Mi Diario. Luego te enviaré una copia de lo que salió. Que la abuela mar (muu en kuna) te trate bien.
