Frank - captain
From: The Netherlands

Hi there.
My name is Frank Kamp and I am the captain of the Esperanza, once again.
This will be the 7th time that I go to the Southern Ocean and the 4th time I go to confront the Japanese whaling fleet with their absurd whaling program.

Every year I say "I hope this is the last year we have to go" But the sad fact is that they don't really want to give up. The fact that they come with another new ship also indicates that they have big plans.

The plan for this year is not only to take close to 900 minke whales, but also 50 fin whales and 50 humpback whales.

We are on our way now with a good ship full of good action people, ready to stay out for a very long time. Again we will do our utmost best to prevent whales from being harpooned. I can't promise that no whales will be killed but I am pretty sure the fleet will return home with a lot less whales than they have in mind.

Kind regards.
Frank

Hi Frank
Excuse me if I sound ignorant, but why exactly are the Japanese making such an aggressive display of power? What is their political agenda, if any can be determined at this point? Also, thankyou very much for your efforts and committment year after year, when this world is graced with souls such as yourself and your crew, one could almost justify saving humanity!

You and your crew are the world’s heroes. I thank you, as do the whales and future generations for all that you do. I shed a tear for the whales lost and their pain and I shed a tear (happy) for all you will save.

Wish i could be on that ship with you all.

Well Done Frank and may you all be safe :-)

Hi Frank,

Succes

Hi Captain Frank...,
Just wanting to wish you the best of luck this time out, ...and for my money, I couldn't be more pleased you've been selected to be pushing that rudder. These seem to be confrontational times on our planet, ...and I know I don't have to say this to you, but please be careful out there.
...and just to run this by you (all), I've started a little mini-series on my site for the journey. A 'Meet the Crew' section that I link back to your personal crew pages. I started it off, ...I think appropriately with you, and I'll change the photo and link to another of the crew every few days. I hope you don't mind me doing this, ...and I am of course your humble servant to do as you ask. It's all under the main graphic on my homepage on the right side where the other GP links are.
Take good care Frank, ...keep those kids of yours safe. Wishing you Love and Light in your sails, ...GC

Hey Frank,
First of all, all the best and success!
Good to see that they have a good committed Captain on board the ship and a super crew.
I wish I could be out there with you guys like in the old days but some of us have to stay on land and try to make shipping safe and sound. I am happy to see that more and more people are taking a stand against what Japan is doing and supporting your (our) work.
Best regards to all I know and the rest.

Ulf

Hi Frank,

Merry Xmas to all the crew, Hope you are all well. Heard about the humpback whale climb down, you certainly need to keep it up. Hi to Luca and see you all sometime in 2008!

Hiya Frank,
Just a question if i may?
i know you cant give too much away re fuel etc but are you going to be able to stay down there in the fight against the whalers for much longer??
Im hoping so as it seems they are gearing up towards resuming their murderous "science".... please stick with them Frank as long as you can....

Jake, I commend you guys for what you are doing. I do have a question for you or your engineers though. I see that you recently had to refuel. How much fuel per day does your vessel use while chasing these whalers?

Captain Frank, and all the crew in the Espy, Im in awe of you and what you do to save the lives of such beautiful, harmless sea creatures. Wish I could be a part of what you do but I dont have sea leggs. I just dont understand the japanese, they kill these beautiful animals, claiming it to be research. When I watched a doco last year that told of the japanese dislike for whale meat, it also said there were literally tonnes of rotting whale meat thrown away annually, please tell me what they really want it for then?
GO YOU GOOD THINGS, give the japanese whalers hell! They deserve it, and they will get it, sooner or later. Karma works in mysterious ways.
You awesome people out there, go with the love of us all who want to see your efforts made such successes. You have already wasted a lot of the japanese companies' time and money, and saved so many whales in the meantime. You have such huge support all around the world, and your courage inspires us all.
Go with love, and be safe out there.
Susanne
