Hi, I am Ronnie from the Philippines. I am the cook, and I've been working with Greenpeace for two years. Before this, I worked on commercial vessels for almost seven years. When my sister and brother (both work as a volunteer on Greenpeace ships) told me about Greenpeace and their ships, I tried to apply and here I am. There is a big difference between a commercial ship and a Greenpeace ship. Commercial shipping always thinks of profits - on how to earn tons of money. Here at Greenpeace we are thinking about the environment, and its future. We spread the word that we need to be serious on the different issues concerning our "mother earth". Like this campaign - forests. This is very important not only here in Indonesia but in all parts of the globe. Our children's, children rely on us, so we need to act now. If my grandchildren ask me what have I've done good for the environment, I will tell them that I am one of the Greenpeace activists. Now I am proud of my self....need to go back to the galley..bye..bye. |
