Taking it to Jakarta

Since we weren't seeing any action by the local police, or a further response from national authorities, we decided to return to Jakarta to present details of the suspect activity to the media. Our press conference will be held on Monday.

Why is it so hard to get authorities here to enforce the law? I think this excerpt from a local paper might give you an idea: "Critics allege the Indonesian Defense Forces, which receives only 30% of its required budget from the government, is involved in illegal logging to help make up the shortfall."

On arrival, we were greeted by a small crowed of well-wishers, and a larger crowd of dockworkers, just off their day shift and obviously entertained by the arrival of a strange ship with an odd foreign crew. You don't see a lot of women deckhands here, so maybe that had something to do with it.
