The world's beaches are in trouble!

Shipbreaking takes place in poor countries, where once pretty beaches in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Turkey are turned into ship graveyards. However, old ships contain hazardous substances such as asbestos, lead paint and PCBs, which are released into the environment. The Rainbow Warrior is in India to visit the shipbreaking yards. Evedien from the Netherlands is on board....

Sea Camp

sunset.jpgWe're still anchored in international waters, somewhere off the coast of India. Doing a "floating in" action, we became used to our "sea camp". We even have some birds living onboard with us. Always watching for any "dead ships sailing" to the shipyard in Alang. Everyone is standby. Ready to take action on target toxic ships.

The week was a bit busy, many campaign developments, lots of decisions, and some satisfying "victories". We were doing training and drills, getting ready for toxic patrols and ship inspection.

On the weekend, we all needed a break. Saturday morning we did some sailing, we had one of our inflatables in the water. When I was standing in the boat a big fish jumped in. We gave it back to the sea. Dilip told me because of that I got three wishes.

joe-doing-laundry.jpgSunday is our day off, no wake up calls. Catching up on a few things such as doing my laundry. Back to the old way using the bucket (we had to stop using the washing machine because we're low on water), some reading, some hanging out, taking it easy.

sunset.jpgAgain we had a nice sunset, dinner with lots of Indian spices, and movie night. I think I'll have an early night. Tomorrow it will all start again, and we never know what might happen, so better be prepared: safety first :)))

Hello crew,
The birds you have onboard are probably Oriental skylarks!

Wish you good luck!
