If they only knew...
By Paola
There are lots of people in the street. We are in a busy area, in the centre of the Turkish capital, on Wednesday morning. There are elegant businessmen in their suit, middle aged women wearing veils on their heads, young mothers with their children.
At the bus stop, an occidental woman is sitting, apparently reading a book. Short red hair, light skin, coloured top and jeans, she looks like a tourist, just waiting for the bus to take her to a park, or to a mosque. When the activists pass in front of her, she glances briefly and comes back to her book.
Later, Philip and I will see this good-looking woman crossing the PM Office road, right in front of the police. Policemen will follow her with their eyes and she will pass by, looking in all directions. Two of the men in uniform will nod, maybe saying each other “ok, she’s just a tourist, she’s got nothing to do with these guys”. It’s funny how things never are what they seem... The blue eyes woman is in fact Nicky, our campaigner from Greenpeace International!!! :-)

as a comparison, the "secret police agents" who were draggin' the activists away seemed not so well disguised, in the pictures!! (in bbcworld! :)
