The peace camp starts

Finally, after so many preparations. There was the press release this morning. I went to Adana to pick the press up. One was late, as it always is, so we waited for some minutes to get back to Incirlik. For those who do not know, Adana is the fourth largest city of Turkey, somewhere south, with a population of 2 million, and Incirlik is a town of Adana, where the base is.

Incirlik is a strange town. The only means of economy is the Americans. There is no single shop with a Turkish name here. They work for the American troops and their viwes. Reminding me of 'Good Morning Vietnam'.

The previous time we were here to ask for the US to stop Star Wars project, the shopowners were not friendly with us. They had yelled at us, with the fear that they would lose their earnings. Economy is the 'science' of the 21st century. This time we play the game a bit more low profile.

Let's come back to the press. They were all there and enthusiastic. Just after the press conference, we managed to arrange a live TV show with a local TV. Moreover, we are giving interviews to guess who? Voice of America! I love this game!

Congratulations on opening the Peace Embassy. And congratulations on getting the journalists into it past the cops in riot gear this morning! (I hope someone got a photo!)

Thinking of you all,

with love
