Kia ora,

Life at camp Kewe is even more colourful with the arrival of Dorothy, the Forest Campaigner from the Greenpeace PNG office. She is a woman of strength and leadership and her guidance is greatly appreciated here as we work for a sustainable eco-forestry venture and the associated community development.

After a successful meeting last week with six tribes and many clans, we followed it up today with a separate meeting with the woman of the clans, updating them on the campaign and talking about their roles in the project. Past experience has shown it is the women who ensure communities work together and move forward.

I took many pictures of the woman and children; they have an innocence and special beauty that makes them very photogenic.

We then continued on to the school, where we talked to the students about the work of Greenpeace and what it means to "lukautim bus" or look after the bush.

We decided that every week one of the volunteers staying here at the camp will go and talk to the children about themselves and their country.
