One cable short of a cinema

Posted by Anne, GFRS volunteer

We had another movie night at Camp Kewe. Pip, our videaographer, wanted to show us a little film he made about organic coffee grown in Papua New Guinea.

Unfortunately, the DVD player didn't recognize his DVD copy of the film. But he didn't give up. There was one computer that might be able to play his movie…

It was even more important that we see it, because two of the foresters here now are from the Goroka, the area where the movie was made.

Our office was transformed into a small cinema. Pip tried to get a big audience. Everybody gathered around the screen to watch his movie. The sound was not too loud so we tried some fancy speakers but unfortunately the most important cable was missing. So everyone came a little closer to the screen and watched!

The movie made it almost to the end, when we have a serious power problem. It has been raining quite a lot and there is not so enough sun on the solar panels to charge our batteries.

But it was a nice break from our regular routine, especially now we are leaving with the foresters tomorrow to work on the boundary marking. Some of us will even go to the forest of a new tribe, the Begua and there we will receive a great traditional welcome!
