There was a report on the BBC regarding the devastation of the PNG forests. It made for pretty depressing reading.

It's great to see Greenpeace out there in such a remote and dangerous place, taking action to protect this amazing place.

Good luck with the campaign and take care! Jen.

Hi guys, I am pretty new to all of this but good on you all. Must be hard work. Where will you be visiting on the Rainbow Warrior? Are you having open days at each port? Has the weather been good or rough? I hope you are all enjoying yourselves. Take care,
Kelly

Fantastic to hear that you are 'making some waves' in PNG! I hope I can help your campaign in some small way, here in New Zealand.

I'm russian GP-activist an, in general, journalist.

Hey, Greenpeace! Im 14, and I say that a simpler time is a better time, because it works for both the world's ecosystems and humanity.

GFRS people!

you guys are rocking it out there! Us stuck in the city can only thank you for the work you are doing, the risks, the ups and the downs that must come with a project like this.
I have heard that the demarcation work is coming along, the tribes are cooperating. The saw mill is a success with a huge welcome from the locals. The first orders for eco timber are in. It really sounds like the job that was planned to happen really is happening, which is saying something considering the problems that had to be overcome to get there.
And you're not even half way through! Imagine the achievment at the end! It will be quite a story, one that I cant wait to hear (and see because I'm sure there is amazing footage being taken).

All the best you lot and may the local gods protect and make bountiful the place you are saving

Hi folks!

I have been to Papua New Guinea for 2 months (my tourist visa only allowed so) and I spent all the weeks with villagers in Oro and Morobe provinces and I loved every second of it!!

I am botanist and have visited many rainforests and I am active here in Swedish enviromental NGOs and I really would love to spend some years of my life saving the truly beautiful and amazing ecosystems in PNG - how do I join your work? I am sure I can contribute with many different things. Also I often succeed in communicating with the villagers if we do not speak any language in common, which is quite exciting!

Keep up the excellent work!!!

Hi,
I want to bring to your attention the logging that is going on in Marau Sound in Guadalcanal Province of Solomon Islands. I flew over there recently and took photos of a new logging operation. In my current job I am not in a position to take action myself, but this strikes me as something that Greenpeace ought to be interested in. The fact that it is a logging operation in a virgin forest is bad enough, but in this case the cleared areas are emptying into an unspoilt lagoon with coral reefs, and the effects are already being seen. I have good recent (last week) aerial photos showing the operations.
Please reply if you have an interest in this operation.

ATTENTION - HURRY!!

I have collected about 55 (friends & family members) who do not have e-mail address to be added to the Virtual March to support the preservation of the Paradise Forest!

How could I do that, since I wasn't allowed to use same e-mail address, but I have their photos here waiting to be uploaded.

I told them about my 2 months' stay in Papua New Guinea and all the rapid logging going on in their wonderful paradise forests. My friends & relatives were upset & disgusted.

Let me know soon how we all could support you in this before the sign-up ends at April 30th(?)!!

(Or am I asking at a wrong site? Please let me me know before this ends!!)

Hi Nathalie,

Thanks for your message. We've sent you an email with instructions on how to post these photos to the Virtual March site.

Congratulations on recruiting all those people - great effort!

Hi,

Thanks to everyone who expressed an interest in joining the GFRS in Papua New Guinea.

Only a handful of dedicated volunteers, most of whom have been very involved with Greenpeace, were invited along.

If you'd like to become a Greenpeace volunteer, I'm sure your local GP office would love to hear from you. Maybe we'll see you on the next project we do!

All the best,
Vanessa

I am Peruvian, love the forest!, Amazon..or Rainforest and all their Ecosystems. Of course.. there is much more to do!
But.. in Peru.. we don't have any representatives.. of Greenpeace! why?
Peru has a great Jungle! We should have one here!

Hi Greenpeace,

I'm member of Greenpeace since two years ago. I'm proud of that since the first day and participate with enthusiasm as a cyberactivist in every single campaign that comes to my email.
Today however I'm a little bit concerned about one element of Greenpeace. That element is "participation".
When I say participation I'm not referring to the participation in campaigns, which is very well organized in my opinion. I'm referring to partipation in the decision making part of the organization (agenda definition, resource assignment, campaign definition and approval, etc.).
I'm making some research for my university regarding participation possibilities through Internet and I know there are lots of them (televoting, discussion groups, etc.) but Greenpeace appears to have none of them!
I understand there has to be some verticality in the organization since it's too big and such a mass of people and resources cannot be managed by everybody at the same time, but that shouldn't prevent us from enabling our people to participate in an open and transparent way.

yours

Raul Martinez
