Ronnie, RW cook, the Philippines
Hello out there my name is Ronnie from the Philippines. I am the cook and the official shopper onboard the Rainbow Warrior.
This is my fifth year working with Greenpeace and this will be my second opportunity to work on the forests campaign.
The situation in the Philippines is a strong example of the impact of illegal logging – from destroyed forests and misplaced families to disasters and deaths. Recently on the central and southern part of my country a big landslide happened and thousands of people died; as far as I know most of them were children (inside a school building).
These things are not new in my country ... such events have occurred many times I am saying this to show what will happen if this kind of activity (illegal logging) continues. Our children and our children’s children have the right to inherit and experience the beauty of the forest.
Maraming salamat .... I smell something is burning in my galley ... hee hee hee …
Bye bye.
Ronnie
