Hi, my name is Florian Schulz or just Flo. I am 27, going on 28 years old. I normally live in a small city in nice and cool northern Germany, where I am an "Environmental Studies" student.

Now I'm here, in Papua New Guinea, helping at the Global Forest Rescue Station as best I can. I have been volunteering with Greenpeace for the last five years; some projects have taken me outside Germany before.

But this is definitely something new, something else. Many years ago I lived in Indonesia. Ever since I have felt deeply drawn to this South-East Asian part of the world, even before I took up working with environmental groups.

So, when I heard that Greenpeace was involved with a project in the Asia Pacific region about saving forests , I just had to go, to work, help, contribute... and learn.

It's amazing what is happening here, how many people care about their environment, work in local NGOs, fight logging, fight for community development – and how little this is known to the rest of the world.

I hope the Global Forest Rescue Station and the Rainbow Warrior will create more public awareness to support these people and their forests.

And I'm very, very excited about being here!
