I'm passionate about whales. That's what first interested me in Greenpeace and its campaigns. I joined the crew of the Rainbow Warrior because the opportunity to participate in this mission combined several things which I feel strongly about: the ocean, sailing, being surrounded by nature and giving a voice to those who sometimes can't speak for themselves.

This includes the plethora of animals whose very existence is endangered as their homes and environment are taken away from them. I aim to spread awareness about how our negligence and destructive acts are forcing some of the most beautiful forms of life that co-inhabit this planet with us to disappear.

My best moment on board was on my first trip to the Paradise Forests, in 2003. Whilst the Rainbow Warrior was in Kalimantan, Borneo, we located a Vietnamese ship that was about to load illegal logs. We then alerted the authorities and the Indonesian Navy showed up and asked to check all their documents and told the ship to immediately leave Indonesian waters.
