Shannon

Deckhand

Australia

Howd'y,

My name is Shannon and I reside in the chilled town (and I mean that in every capacity) of Melbourne, Australia. I have been involved with Greenpeace now for 5 years. In my time with Greenpeace I have been given the opportunity to campaign and take direct action on issues that most concern me. The Oceans campaign means a lot to me as I was so close to the Ocean as a child, hmmmm, everybody loves the Sea, so pure!

Since the years have rolled by I have noticed a decline in the abundance and vitality of the Ocean, we can thank the short sightedness of, yep, you guessed it, MAN and his quest for more bling, bling$

Be it from declining fish stocks on the world market to not being able to catch anything at a once plentiful fishing spot on your favorite stretch of coast.?we need balance, it's well, well, well overdue for us to be thinking long term, the time is now!

The purpose of our tour is to empower the Pacific Island people to take charge of their fisheries and manage them for a sustainable future. As an activist, this is one of the key roles we play, empowering people! As long as I continue to do this I feel WE are making a difference. So get off the couch, get outside and you'll soon realise there's something beautiful here to protect, Our Oceans, Our future, Our choice!

Liv'n 'n' lov'n it, Shann X
