Esperanza in Sydney!
Posted by Dave, on the Esperanza
Hi folks - after a 7,000 mile voyage, lots of unexpected situations, and 42 days at sea, we're currently alongside in White Bay, Sydney. Earlier, we sailed in past the famous Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Right now, we've got a ship-full of customs and immigration officials, so we haven't yet put foot on terra firma.
On the quayside, John, Rose and a whole gang from the Australian office are waiting patiently for us - once the formalities are over, there'll be loads of hugs. And perhaps a few gin'n'tonics too.
We've got a press conference coming up in the next hour and a half - we'll be posting more news after that!

:( The webcam is down - we can't see the gin'n'tonics...

Sydney? According to the map (http://oceans.greenpeace.org/en/the-expedition/route) the Esperanza is still near Antarctica.
Hi Pepijn
Yeah sorry - Elaine is on holidays and took her Mac (and Flash wizardry) with her!!
She'll be back soon... I HOPE!

My kids have been hanging to see the Esperanza. Are we able to come have a look at the ship, either from land or go on board any time?
Many thanks.
Lisa
Hi Lisa,
Unfortunately due to the changing campaign schedule and decision to keep going straight to Tokyo, the Esperanza left Sydney pretty quickly. We're really sorry but look forward to bringing you good news from Tokyo!
