Taking Stock

It's the end of the U.S. leg of the expedition, and the beginning of another. For me, it's my last day onboard, and I'm sad to leave. For the crew though, this is a day to prepare for the next part of the journey, and the ship has been buzzing with activity. In addition to the open boat tours, supplies for the ship arrived, and Matt, the bosun, is operating the crane to bring it all onboard.

Everything from food supplies to engineering equipment will keep the ship running until it reaches La Paz, Mexico next week, and on to Puerto Vallarta. It's an amazing operation to behold, and everyone is needed to pull it off in just a couple of short hours.

Meanwhile, I've been giving tours of the ship that remind me of the beginning of my voyage in Honolulu, only now I know the ship and crew much better. It's been a great experience living onboard for the last 17 days, and I'll never look at pictures of the Espy the same way.

Irene, the next web editor, came onboard this morning, and it was great to see her again. I hope she enjoys the experience as much as I did, and I'm looking forward to reading her blogs about the Mexican leg of the expedition.

Marie,
Great job as web editor. I've been following your journey on the internet since Honolulu. Thanks for tipping me off that the ship was in Honolulu harbor.
Aloha,
Terry
