Back To Sea

Open Day in India

Well we're now back at sea. We were itching to get to India, then we were itching to get back to sea. Don't get me wrong, India was very nice, the people were fantastic, but there is something about being at sea that is like nothing else. With the gentle waves, fresh sea air, dolphins, flying fish and even jumping tuna, it's just so nice to be out here in the Ocean. So that means back to rolling around in bed, holding onto the desk while I type and stumbling up and down hallways. But I love it!

This morning I was on the bridge and at about 5:30am the sun started to rise, and with it came massive black stormy clouds. Within a few minutes you could smell the moisture in the air, and see the rain heading towards us. After a quick check of the weather maps and on the radar, it was going to hit us. About five minutes later, the wind picked up, the temperature dropped about five degrees C in three minutes and then started a down pour. The waves picked up too and the ship began to roll and pitch more. It was so hot and humid that I stood in the rain and let is soak me through. Oh, then it started to thunder so I came back inside – you know, wet metal deck and thunder .. didn't sound like a grand idea to be outside.

It rained for about 2 hours. Our deckhands we’re very happy as this meant they didn't have to clean the decks. The massive down pour had done the job for them. It was like driving your car through a car wash but on a bigger scale. Trying to keep 72 X 14 metres of steel clean is a very big job. Thanks Mother Nature :). I have to admit though, in all the ports we’ve been in so far, the Esperanza has always been the cleanest ship. I know I'm biased, but it's true :P

Ohhhh yeah, by the way, we moved the webcam up to the crows nest .. though I've never actually seen crows nesting there, but anyway .. check it out!

VIDEO UPDATE - Check It Out Too! Actually, just check everything out, it's all great stuff!
