A Time To Reflect.

As we sail past a beautiful remote island not so far from Burma, I think it's time to reflect. I think that I've been so busy that I really haven't sat back to think about this amazing experience I'm having. Perhaps it's something I will reflect upon after I get off the ship and slow down for a minute to see it. It really has been amazing to spend time on this ship, spend time with the crew and see the great things that a ship like this can achieve for the environment. I think without the Esperanza we wouldn't be able to achieve a lot of things that we currently do. This ship, in conjunction with the Artic Sunrise and Rainbow Warrior... We can achieve anything!

Apart from my experience of being on board and seeing amazing places and beautiful sunsets, I think it's more about what this ship does, what it stands for that is quite remarkable. I'm sure you have seen the many things we've achieved with it since the ship was launched in 2002. One of those great achievements is the Southern Ocean Whaling campaign. More recently is was the pirate fishing in West Africa. Thanks to Elaine, our fantastic web Guru, we have a nice picture animation of some of the shocking things that have happened out there. I encourage you to have a look. It's very nicely presented by Pierre Gleizes who was onboard the Esperanza at the time.

With this and many other great things achieved... It's really only just the beginning. There's a lot more to be achieved out of her yet.

Also, I have received some emails and blog postings about the current issues in Lebanon in relation to the oil spill along their coast line. For more information on Greenpeace's response to this and also on Peace, please see:
