Keeping an eye out!
Over the last few days we have been preparing and training for pirates. Not like you see in 'Pirates of the Carribean', but ones on speed boats. We are in one of the most dangerous areas in the world for pirates. We will have extra crew on watch right around the clock. My watch will be on the bridge tomorrow morning from 4am till 8am with the chief mate.

My duty will be to keep an eye out with the chief and do rounds of the ship checking the upper and lower decks regularly throughout my watch. Pep, our chief mate and Captain Frank have briefed the crew on the situation we're heading into. We have just switched from the electric engines to the main engines which are diesel. This allows greater speeds and better maneuverability to zig zag through the water which makes it harder for the pirates to board us if the attempt to. We're currently sitting on 13 knots but we can do up to 16. We will continue these precautions for the next few days as we pass through the south of the Red Sea and onto the Gulf of Aden. It's highly unlikely we will encounter any issues.

Previously we we're chasing the Pirates of the Mediterranean who were plundering bluefin tuna, now we are dealing with a different type of Pirate. We won't be chasing these ones.

These guys aren't Ocean Defenders, but Ocean Offenders!
