A job for the weekend?
by Ed, onboard the Esperanza
The West Africa leg of the campaign is now over for the Esperanza and everything that was hoped for seems to have come to fruition - amazingly! There remains a lot of work to do now, with the ministers in Guinea and Spain and the EU...an unenviable job for the people of the EJF and Greenpeace. I think what we have all managed to do here so far, may well have long lasting effects which can help to make a change for the better, for people and the ocean, so well done everybody!!Life on board continues, as some crew and campaigners have left and some new have arrived. Bar bills have been paid, laundry cleaned and put away, cabins cleaned, all ready for the new arrivals on board. New campaign briefings have been given and a general idea of what is involved. It's a time to refocus on the new campaign and to regain some energy and try to feel fresh for the new work ahead. Meanwhile the usual ship maintanance continues and the air becomes a bit cooler and clearer as we gradually head North.
Life on board is beginning to take a small toll now as my energy levels are not what they were at the start of the trip, although I know that as we arrive at the Azores I will have a new lease of life. My clothes are all suffering the effects of paint and also the ship's washing machine, which tends to make white things turn grey or green. My white t-shirts have changed colour and I have some white underpants also that seem to have aquired sporadic orange rust spots......hmm...there could be a few explainations for that, i know it's a long time at sea, but I know it is definitely the fault of the washing machine. I am going to try a small experiment with Phosphoric Acid (metal brite) for those familiar with the product, (it's good for removing rust and corrosion, it's also found in coca cola, along with the nerve toxin Aspartame!) Anyway, I think by painting it on my underpants, (definitely not whilst wearing them) then washing them, they may become clean again. A job for the weekend I think!
Big thanks to everone again!

Oi Ed!
Good to hear from you again mate! I would've thought you'd be on shore by now ;) Interesting story about the washing machine... Maybe some pollywogs sabotaged it on the last crossing?
Good luck with the underpants! :-P
