I strongly believe in the role NGOs play in world politics and that's how I came to Greenpeace. As I was working as a research intern at the international office in Amsterdam, I was asked to look for "sexy" ocean stories for the Defending Our Ocean campaign and especially for the pirate fishing part. It wasn't easy to find amusing and exciting facts about big eye tunas and swordfish, as you can imagine, but it really got me interested in the project and in particular in the issue of pirate fishing.
I believe it is of prime importance to know the impact our lifestyle and, in that specific case, our food habits, have on the life of people in other parts of the globe. We should all be conscious of the fact that the fish we're so glad to have in our plates, not only may disappear, but that it has often been stolen from local fishermen who are deprived of their only means of subsistence and that of their entire families.
So here I am, finally realizing my arms and hands are not only made to type on a keyboard...
beauty of Planet Earth is surely one of the many good ways to live.

i hope that this message will someday be understood...more people need to grasp the concept of being 'too late'. everything must be done to avoid this situation, this loss, this destruction, these acts of carelessness. act now, expose now, learn now, and appreciate now! one of the most heart wrenching feelings is being too late to have acted. thank you to those that are...nautilo.
