How to get the most from your needle gun
by Ed, onboard the Esperanza
The Esperanza guide to using removing rust with a needle-gun. And here's your host, Ed:Ingredients: Air hoses, 3 needle guns, a cable tie, a rusty deck, tropical sun, brush and pan, bucket, safety glasses, ear protectors, lube oil.
Method:
- Before use, it's important to make sure the needle gun is always well cleaned and fully lubricated. Then plug the needle guns into the air supply, wrap the cable tie around the trigger of the gun so that constant power can be maintained, along with full body and brain shaking, vibration and maximum noise, for the benefit of the whole crew - especially those who may be sleeping.
- Sit comfortably on the deck, which has been heating up all morning in the tropical sun, wait for it to reach the temperature of 4000 degrees, (thats hot enough to fry anyone's bottom) (twice!), put on your ear protectors and glasses and put a t/shirt over your head to ensure total disengagement from the world around you.
- Begin attacking the rust on the deck and bulkheads until the dirt and sweat fill your protective glasses, so that you are forced to stop and clean them. Stop and try to pretend that the sun is not really hot enough to cause a very quick and painful death and that sun stroke will affect you. Then just start again until the scheduled coffee time arrives and another chance arises to search for the ship's escape capsule.
Result: Beautiful, clean, shiny and safe decks on the Esperanza for her work in the year ahead!
Conclusions: Not so much going on yet in this particular area of the ocean - at least not in the pirate fishing department, but its a good chance for all sorts of maintanence to get the ship in good shape!
Remarks: Break time over...back to work... yippee!

This post brings back horrible memories I have of trying to get to sleep after my 4-8am watch while someone was needle gunning my skull (or at least that is how it felt).
I hate those things.
