Lisa

Me in my gardenI am a British trouble maker, originally from Bermuda, and I have been involved with Greenpeace since 2004. I started off as a cyberactivist and won a competition to volunteer for Greenpeace in China. I then did a few stints as a web editor on board our ships, assisted our oceans campaigns as an intern, planned and coordinated an amazing project for the whales campaign "The Great Whale Trail" and now work as a Digital Communications Specialist at Greenpeace International in Amsterdam.

One day - I'd like to give up work altogether and live in an eco-friendly and self sustaining community somewhere sunny but before I do that I want to spend some time making the world a better place and I can't think of a better way to do that than through the internet, with Greenpeace.

I first got to know Lisa when she was an online volunteer who was among the top recruiters for our Iceland Whale Pledge. I wrote her to say she was a finalist and her response was "That's great, listen I'm doing a talk in 48 hours about environmentalism at a local school can you get me a video and some materials before then..." (I did.)

And for the next few years, she carried on as a volunteer with exactly that energy level and commitment until she found her way into a (sort of) paying job with Greenpeace.

She doesn't mention here that she's a biologist and a lifetime environmental campaigner who has more than a few notches in her rainstick marking victories local and global she has been a part of or ran single-handedly.

If the world had a few more Lisas, the world would have a lot fewer environmental woes.

Hello Lisa,
I refer to your article about Fred Langley Jr, can you please pass on my email address to him. His grandfather is my dad's brother.

I am very proud to hear about I-Kiribati contributing to Green Peace' mission. I read last month about the Peter from Fiji.

All the best in your work. Kind regards,
bess

Hello Lisa (lizardfish)

I hope you remember me, probably you don't.

Many (5-6) years ago, we use to chat at greenpeace ciberactivist website, I remember when you won the competition to travel to Iceland with Tope Akintola...

I have great memories from you, from Brian (hi Brian), Ann Novek, Rob, Bilel and many others. Triying to save the world with a computer jeje. Fortunately rigth now I'm still trying to do it, but as a PhD student in theoretical ecology :-)

The reason why I have spent many hours today searching for you is that today I woke up tinking on you. Don't be frigtened (it could be frightening specially if you don't remember me).
I remember that you was carring out a research about lizardfish in Bermuda, and it could be helpfull for my research in metapopulations and metacommunities.

Keep doing such a great job at GP.

Best regards

Luis (sapovicic)
