Timelapse beached sand whale video

Whale Of A Day from Greenpeace_AustraliaPac on Vimeo.

(larger version)

Mesmerizing timelapse video showing the making of a 17 metre fin whale sand sculpture on Bondi Beach, Sydney. Sculpture by Greenpeace activists and sand sculptures, video by Keith Loutit, music by Headstrong and Shelley Harland.

The sculpture was done as a protest against whaling, and in support of two Japanese activists who are facing up to 10 years in jail for exposing a whale meat smuggling scandal. If you don't have tons of sand handy, you can still support them as well.

Here's how:

1) Sign the Tokyo Two petition telling the Japanese government, "If defending whales is a crime, arrest me."

2) Change your Facebook/Skype/whatever status to, "Wanted in Japan ;-)". (Winky smiley face optional, depending if you're a winky smiley face kind of person.)

Comments

Why can't I download your video from Vimeo? I don't have flash (because it doesn't run on my processor, it's a security hole and it's not free software) so like this I can't watch the video at all.

"If defending whales is a crime, arrest me."

Sorry.

Don't understand the question. It is posted on Vimeo. And almost everyone has Flash installed on their browswer.

If anyone else has problems seeing the video, would be great to hear about them.

Thanks.

Some Vimeo videos can be downloaded. I guess as long as you don't explicitly disallow it(?). On your video it says explicitly "Sorry. This video is not available for download".

And no, not everybody has Flash nor can have flash. Look at clive for example. "It was originally written to bypass the Adobe Flash requirement needed to view the hosted videos." However it doesn't support Vimeo, because you can offer downloads directly from Vimeo.

Thanks for the clarification.

I'll pass the "no download" thing on to our Australia office. Probably is set that way by mistake.
