Ban the Bulb in India
Greenpeace activists, made a giant Ban the Bulb message in the River Ganges, using lifebelts. The communication took place in Kolkata, one of the many coastal cities in India under threat from rising sea levels, as a result of climate change.
Simply by banning the energy wasting incandescent (traditional) lightbulb, India could save a massive 55 million tonnes of CO2, cutting their overall emissions by 4%. Email the Indian Minister of Power asking him to do just this.
Greenpeace’s flagship the Rainbow Warrior is on its way to Kolkata, from there it will sail to the Sunderbans, to highlight how vulnerable this ecologically sensitive region is to sea level rise.
Energy wasting lightbulbs are outrageously inefficient - they throw away 97 per cent of the energy they consume. An altogether better option has been available for 30 years, the energy saving lightbulb, which uses just one fifth of the energy of the incandescent, and lasts on average up to 8 times longer.
One thing in the climate crisis is clear; there is no time to waste. So what’s holding up such a simple switch?

So what’s holding up such a simple switch?
And how many more times expensive does an 'energy saving' bulb cost in India? How much does the average Indian earn each day?
Do you plan to buy the bulbs for them, or just try to keep them from advancing? what should be done is try to extend electricity use in India, so that they use it for cooking and heating. How much will that reduce CO2 emissions by cutting back on the number of fires buring in India?
If this switch is so simple, how come most of the modern world has yet to do it. Government should make the switch first to 'prove' how simple it is.
Is Greenpeace 'bulb free'?
- This reads like a rant, but it is not!

We can't afford to buy bulbs for everyone, but it is important to remember that you make back the extra cost in electricity savings very quickly.
Energy utility companies in some countries offer a deal where they pay for the new energy saving lightbulbs. The utility re-coups its cost by billing you in installments - but since the energy saving drops your cost, your bill stays the same.
Once you've paid off the (fairly small) cost of the CFLs, future savings is money in your pocket.
This is just one example of how we can always find answers, as long as we look for solutions rather than problems.

GREENPEACE HAVE GOT THIS ONE WRONG.
Change the Lights, improve the Health and Productivity of the Nation!!
BUT BAN FLUORESCENT LIGHT as well as Incandescent
Wireless computer network risks to be investigated
· Government orders tests over two years
· Health officials insist no need to suspend use

Dear Ian,
cc Pat Tropp
Gordon Brown
Thanks for the article.
I've been pushing the dangers of Fluorsecent Lights (F.L.) for the last few years.
F.L. is a form of vibrational energy similar to Wi Fi
Very relevant now that incandescent lights look like being banned.
Well done Greenpeace - save the planet murder the population.
It's all the same chestnut.
There are two levels to the problem.
The body and especially the hormonal system governed by the pinal body needs top quality light.
It need single source light and it definately DOES NOT need VIBRATIONAL energy.
Read the likes of
Lieberman - Light (Medicine of the Future)
Ott - Health and Light
and try not to shudder.
But I'm not making myself clear.
The body needs quality light the same way as it needs quality vitamins and minerals.
Since the introduction of Fluorscent lights we have been subjecting ourselves to Junk Light.
Ott found that F.L. did appalling things to animals and planets.
There is no doubt in my mind eventually light quality will be shown as a long term slow burning root cause of diabetes and cancers.
It does this mainly be reducing the strength of the immune system.
The rest comes down to the disposition of the individual to certain illness.
I discovered this when I went and worked in Eastern Europe.
They had really old and very strong F.L.
I'd be off ill every time I returned to work after a holiday with flu like colds.
Eventually I got them to change the lights, a very simple things to do, and the flus stopped.
Then there is the vibrational element that is relevant to your article.
There is part of the brain that co-ordinates the senses.
Practiontioners of The Bates Method have found this as have Iridology Practitioners.
But if it is subjected to too much vibrational energy then it begins to draw excessive energy and tire the body.
A bit like a strobe affect.
Of course with PCs and F.L. you can't actually see this vibration.
But the brain has to deal with it.
That's why it's so tiring to work under F.L.
Also F.L. is emitting high frequency sound that also can't be heard but can be sensed.
I can sense F.L., mobile phones and these new wi-fi boxes.
So the body is being bombarded by enegies that it is not designed to deal with.
Eventually it gets exhausted.
But in the meanwhile it has to stuff high carbohydrates down itself in a way to stay with modern life.
Finally, ill health arives but not before submission has been achieved.
And this is the thing that amuses me but frightens me.
We know that in Gutemano Bay (sic) the Americans use constant articifcial light in their "breaking" of their enemies.
Subject a work force/ society to constant artificial light and you'll get a compliant population.
Of course it's an expensive technique because you pay millions in Health Care increased charges.
Finally, and a point I intuitively felt at the time I had problems with F.L. and vibrational energies, the
most sensitive members of society express problem symptoms first.
People with boarderline Mental Hrealth problems, I have learned, get pushed over the edge if they are
subjected to vibrational energy.
Yet hospitals and clinics and schools are full of Vibrational energy and F.L.
In German it's banned in children's hosipitals.
Hurra !!!!!!!!
Ban Vibrational Energy and F.L. and save the country billions of pounds in lost productivity and ill health.
Simple but takes Balls.

PS This is an emotive topic for me and I find it difficult to express the detail clearly.

hi,
it is all fine to ask for the ban of a bulb. i do appreciate what you are doing, but instead of asking the poor (who normally use the bulbs), why not demand for a cut down in the 24 hours TV channels? how much energy is being wasted by these people in their programme production and how much more energy is being wasted by the people who watch this junk???
i keep seeing that you only ask for a renewable fuel for cars etc, but why not urge more and more people to use public transport??? aren't we wasting precious resources and adding to the carbon emissions in the manufacture of the thousands (if not millions ) of new cars every year - the mining of aluminium, the rubber which comes from plantations that have displace evergreen forests (in kerala for example), the glass, pvc, lead in the car batteries, and last but not the least the electricity used for the manufacturing of cars...the electricity in the automobile showrooms...the list is endless!
if you really wish to change the world, do so from the core of your hearts...give up your personal cars for starters...stop zipping around in JET PLANES or use up precious fuel in ships like the RAINBOW WARRIOR!
AND SURPRISE, SURPRISE SURPRISE, GREENPEACE doesn't have time to participate in the anti-nuke struggles across INDIA!
