Back to the real world

The last three days have been spent providing training for twenty greenpeace web editors from around the world in how to use our content management system. The notion of a content management system that takes three days to learn how to use might seem a bit much, but we're talking about a lot more than a system that lets you 'publish an article and add a picutre.' We also spent a lot of time on other stuff, search engine optimisation, how to use web-trends for traffic analysis, that kind of thing.

The sessions turned up a wealth of new information and helped us get a lot of good content into our new wiki, which we'll be using to provide end user support. A lot of other good stuff came out of the days - friends made, problems resolved, ideas generated. I can now explain some of the finer points of Slovak grammar, which is important because it's driving an enhancement request....

The afternoon of the final day was spent in a structured brainstorm and specifications writing exercise for new tools we could develop - I'll post summaries of the ideas we came up with here over the next few days.
