I've just been reading one of the new free papers I mentioned - this is the Al Muajaha (Volume 1 issue 2 - June 1st print run)
They have a "Where is Saddam" column I had to share with you (they also have a bizarre regular feature called "Dictators' Corner - this weeks celebrity dictator is Ferdinand Marcos of the Phillipines)
Anyway, back to "Where is Saddam"......
Among the political comments ("I think Saddam is in Israel and they will make a gold statue for him because he did such a good job for them")where these two absolute pearls:
"Saddam's working in the power station and that's why the electricity's going on and off without any reason"
and.....
"He's driving a taxi in Aadhamiyah. My cousin saw him"
Is Saddam getting Elvis status I wonder? Will he turn up as the short order cook in a Texan diner?
There was also a digest of news from other papers including these two rather telling entries
"The Washington Post reported that the US military teams in charge of trying to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq were "frustrated" because they hadn't found any weapons and that they plan to stop searching next month"
just above that entry it read:
"According to the Los Angeles Times, President Bush and the US Congress began moves to change their laws so that the US can legally build newer, smaller nuclear bombs that the US military 'might actually use' in future wars"
........errr, looking for weapons of mass destruction? Try Pennsylvania Avenue, it's quicker than looking for Elvis.
