I read a news report this morning that says the IAEA have "accounted for nearly all the uranium missing from the Tuwaitha plant." The IAEA won't confirm it. Apparently they are still here after all. Journalists here tell me it has been impossible to get near them, they are heavily guarded by US military and they have American special agents travelling with them. One TV crew told me they managed to film them one day from 150m away and then the army confiscated their tapes - for two reasons: they were afraid the secret agents could be identified and they also thought the crew had filmed the inspectors in their underpants! Paranoid? No, surely not.
I would love to be able to meet the inspectors, in their trousers, their underpants I don't care.
I want to tell them of uranium that most certainly hasn't been accounted for, but we can't get close to them either. Perhaps if the occupying forces let them travel with us for a few days instead of the CIA they might have a different picture...
I read another report this morning and it made me really mad - apparently George Bush now has a new theory on why he can't find any weapons of mass destruction here - the Iraqis looted it themselves. Shame on you George Bush. You go to war on the basis of a clear and present danger, Iraq could launch an attack in 45 minutes they are so organised, and there is compelling evidence that there are weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and now not one shred of evidence can be found.
Don't get me wrong, I want ALL weapons of mass destruction to be got rid of - wherever they are - Iraq, USA, UK and any number of other countries - peacefully.
But to make the claim, justify a war with the claim and then blame looters for stealing your evidence... Shame on you George Bush.
