I forgot one other friend I have, one that hasn't left my side since I arrived. A small blue plastic friend and we all have one. No, the heat is not getting to me - it is a radiation film badge.
About the size of a credit card, it is registering all the radiation we are being exposed to while we are here. When we leave it will get analysed and then we will know what levels we have experienced over the course of the trip. We carry them everywhere we go and will have to wait a while after our return before it can be analysed and its mysteries revealed.
The one thing that is certain is that we have suffered nothing like the levels that those who live here are potentially being exposed to. None of them have a little blue friend to check them - perhaps some little blue friends from the United Nations would like to step in and fill the gap?
