![]() June 17, 2004 Bureau of Land Management Asks Greenpeace to Leave Public Lands Within 48 Hours
The Forest Rescue station is also within the proposed Kelsey Whiskey timber sale area. The Kelsey-Whiskey is of particular importance because it is surrounded by more than 46,000 acres of roadless area, filled with old-growth trees. In addition, over 90% of the public comments sent to the BLM about this sale were opposed to it, yet the sale is still moving ahead. They've asked us to leave the area within 48 hours. Comments
Good work guys, somehow we'll get the message across, NO old-growth logging. I am outraged that the BLM is trying to throw Greenpeace off our public lands. Give us an address at the Medford BLM and we'll plaster their walls with protest! Posted by: Sean at June 18, 2004 04:58 AMBut will you stay or will you let them drive you out??? Posted by: iron peg at June 18, 2004 12:15 PMHave you thought of relocating maybe to the National Forest? Fiddler Mountain in the Biscuit Fire area is a good spot. The Forest Service plan to salvage here, some areas they will extract 60,000 board feet per acre! Posted by: ken at July 20, 2004 12:47 AMI think they have every right to move you. besides what is so wrong about cutting trees down have you ever looked at how many there are. I mean we could never run out of too many trees. Posted by: YO mama at July 26, 2004 04:11 PMJust bought the Coldplay Cd and greenpeace website was listed on the cover jacket. I love this earth, do not destroy it by killing all of our trees. My first encounter with BLM was in the deserts of California in the 1970's. I guess the message they are driving home these days has changed. Not for the better. Posted by: tracy at August 5, 2004 06:21 PMPost a
