Some words from Ken Finn, UK Author
UK Author Ken Finn, author of My Journey With A Remarkable Tree was part of the author tour. He gives us his thoughts on his visit to the Forest Rescue Station.
I am here with a group of Authors from Europe visiting the Greenpeace Forest Rescue Station. Over the last couple of days we've seen a beautiful and ancient forest at risk.
We've met representatives from the Sámi indigenous people who depend on the forest for their livelihood and their way of life. It's something to be treasured. The forest is under threat of logging for paper pulp. The direct link between the books we read and the destruction is perfectly clear. The simplicity of the cause and effect cannot be avoided but for once happily we have a choice that is easy and relatively pain free. As authors we must insist that our work is printed on either recycled or paper from a sustainable source accredited by The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). We cannot support the pulping of something so precious. Share more, buy less and ask your favourite author to go Ancient Forest Friendly.
