Meet Ulrike: Activist From Germany
Name: Ulrike
From: Germany
Job: Dietician for diabetic people
What are you doing so far north?
Have you been out in the forest before this trip? What happened?
I would like to support the protection of the of the last old-growth forest in Northern Finland, I think it's very important for the people who get their livelihood from it.
Have you been out in the forest before this trip? What happened?
Yes, I've been in the rainforest in Costa Rica It's great to see the differences between boreal and rainforest.
What animal do you most resemble?
An eagle, because I would like to fly away over the country and see many countries, and feel the fresh air around me - and freedom.
What's your most important survival item?
My diary.
Arctic Finland: Too cold, a bit cold, warm, or too damned warm?
When I have to go to the outside toilet at the camp, it's too cold! When I walk through the forest in daylight without a hat it's a bit cold. When I come into the containers with all my winter clothes, it's too warm. And when we're all having dinner together in the container - 12-15 people, it really is damned warm!
