Meet Rossano: Activist (and cook!) from Italy
Meet Saint Rossano - the chef at the Forest Rescue Station - the world's most northerly Italian restaurant, perhaps?
Name: Rossano
From: Italy
Job:
Agronomist, cook, tourism management, sailor, development worker... who knows next.
What are you doing so far north?
To see beauty...I have seen so much beauty disappear in just my lifespan, that every time I think I can give a contribution (even through cooking, like now, making the life of our activists a bit nicer twice a day) to try to protect was it left of it, I jump at the chance.
Have you been out in the forest before this trip? What happened?
Many times and in many places. Every time it's like an immersion in life, amazed by the intensity of its energy, to be surrounded by so many different living beings, surpised by the smells, the colours, the sounds or the silence.
What animal do you most resemble?
A koala - peaceful - just eats and enjoys life, causing no damage, moving slowly.
What's your most important survival item?
My brain.
Arctic Finland: Too cold, a bit cold, warm, or too damned warm?
A bit too wet: humidity and water in all its forms seems to always find a way through your garments, getting to your skin or bones... at my age, a nasty feeling!
