Meet Janet: Activist From UK

Janet, activist from UKName: Janet

From: UK

Job: Chemical engineer, freight consultant

What are you doing so far north?
Helping to protect these forests from destructive logging. Hoping to see the Northern lights before I go home.

Have you been out in the forest before this trip? What happened?
I grew up next door to a wood in Cheshire and knew every inch of it as a child; I've loved forests ever since. With Greenpeace I have been to Alaska (Tongass forest) in 2003, then the Amazon last year, and now Finland. They're all forest but totally different.

What animal do you most resemble?
A human being? Usually.

What's your most important survival item?
That depends where I am, but here it's warm clothing.

Arctic Finland: Too cold, a bit cold, warm, or too damned warm?
So far it's been not quite cold enough and there's not enough sunshine, but it changes all the time.
