Meet Christian: Activist from Switzerland

Christian: Activist from SwitzerlandName: Christian

From: Switzerland

Job: Agronomist

What are you doing so far north?
I am here to protect the old growth forests of upper Lappland, the only ancient forests left in Europe. As a some of the logs end up as nice magazines to Switzerland, it is important for me that I'm here up in the forest.

Have you been out in the woods before? What happened?
In Switzerland I go to mountains as often as possible, so I spend a lot of time in forests. Here in the Forest Rescue Station I have been out in the forest for several days now, on skis for demarcation. II've just returned form a trip of about 8 hours, skiings in a remote area. It was so quiet there.

What animal do you most resemble?
Eagle. Because he can fly over the landscape and have an overview.

What's your most important survival item?
My warm sleeping bag, since I stay outside for the night here as much as possible. And of course some pieces of Swiss chocolate!

Arctic Finland: Too cold, a bit cold, warm, or too damned warm?
At moment too warm, because the snow is melting and we cannot walk on the snow without sinking!
