Meet Arthur: Activist From The Netherlands
Name:Arthur
From: Groningen, The Netherlands
Job: Student, part-time customer care worker
What are you doing so far north?
Trying to give a contribution to the protection to the old growth forests of Lapland with my knowledge and abilities. I think that we can make a real difference with what we are doing here. If we aren't going to stop Stora Enso and Metsähallitus and make the Finnish government realise that they should protect these old forests and the Sámi rights, who else is going to?
Have you been out in the forest before this trip? What happened?
Yeah, I've been to one of the last original rainforests of Australia in Queensland. It's been amazing. Huge trees and all the variety of plants and animals. One day I wanna go and see rainforests in South America.
What animal do you most resemble?
A worm, because if you chop it's still gonna live on.
What's your most important survival item?
My mother.
Arctic Finland: Too cold, a bit cold, warm, or too damned warm?oo damned warm. I was prepared for minus 30 degrees celsius before I got here, like the activists experienced who had been here first. And now we have around minus 5-10 at night only.

Hello, Arthur
I'm sitting here in Holland and I'm a little bit scared. Hopefully you're coming soon home. I'm missing you.

Hi Arthur!
Still there? I sure enjoyed your company in the Rescue Camp during my stay. It was fun to meet a fellow Dutchmen so far up north! Safely home now, I have managed to convince my publisher that my next book should be printed on FSC paper. It was actually quite easy, as she is of the same mind as we on this issue. So at least for one book the 'writers tour' to the Finnish forest has been a succes, and no doubt the other participants will achieve the same.
Keep up the good work - and don't melt! Liefs, LYDIA
