Where We Are - 69° North
So, where are we? Extremely far north, that's where...
We're a smidgen south of 69° north - 3 degrees north of the Arctic Circle.
Our office in the town of Inari (Anár in the S&aami language), the regional centre S&aami culture, of on the frozen shores of Lake Inari. A few minutes walk away, is SIIDA - the home of the Sámi Museum and the Northern Lapland Nature Centre.
Out in the forests, we have the Forest Rescue Station - activists are living in converted shipping containers, assisting the S&aami; in demarcating crucial areas of ancient forest.
The only countries that are on the same latitude as this part of Finland are northern Alaska, lots of Canada, Greenland, northern Norway, a little bit of Sweden and quite a bit of Russia. Here's some maps...
