Meet Niko: Activist from Finland

Name: Niko

Age: 25

From: Finland

Why are you working for Greenpeace?
Greenpeace has done a good job in raising solving environmental problems and hopefully it will continue doing so in the future.

Why are you at the Forest Rescue Station?
You can blame my parents for my being in Finland. In Lapland I am here because if my being here can improve the status of of the reindeer herders and old-growth forest convservation, I have done something that matters.

What are you expecting from your stay here?
In Lapland, everything takes its time so I do not expect anything to change rapidly. What I hope is that our being here will spark a process where the socio-economical interests of loggers and reindeer herders are combined to value nature.
