Meet Niila: Activist from Helsinki

Niila: Activist from Helsinki
Name: Niila

Age: 31

From: Helsinki

Why are you working for Greenpeace?
Six years ago, I realised that the world is really going in the wrong direction, and the downward spiral is getting faster and faster. Since then I've been involved with Greenpeace. Nuclear power, pollution of the Baltic Sea and the forest are the things that worry me most, and I think every Finnish person should feel the same.

Why are you at the Forest Rescue Station?
My parents took me to Lapland several times when I was a child. They even met here and fell in love! They taught me to love and respect Finnish nature. I have spent a lot of time here throughout my life, and I don't want to see it destroyed. I wand to my part to try to find the solution that would work for everyone. I have a three-year old daughter, and I want her to be able to experience things in Lapland like I have.

What are you expecting from your stay here?
Lots of work, lots of talking, lots of beautiful nature, and lots of learning.
