What are you doing so far north?
I feel very fortunate to take part in the work we are doing here together with the local people, the Sámi. I hope that our combined efforts can ensure that the ancient forest with still be here for future generations. So far I've been demarcating areas that need to be protected, buy putting up signs.

Have you been in the forest before?
I come from the Netherlands and our forests are probably only considered to be a group of trees, by most standards. But I've been to a volunteer reforestation project in Ecuador. I spent two weeks in the biodiversity hotspot of the world, at least according to some people. It was amazing to see that where ever I looked I would see a different tree. The forests I've seen since I've been here are equally special, however different they are from the forests in Ecuador.

What animal do you look like?
No idea, but after putting on all the clothes that I need to keep warm, the way I move probably resembles that of a penguin.

Most important survival item
My MP3 player. When you are always around people, day and night, the only "private" time that you can get is the short time before you fall asleep. So that's when I like to listen to my own music.

Too cold? Bit cold, warm? Too warm?
All of the above. In the sun and when I can keep busy the cold is not too bad, sitting inside is not too warm. However at night it has been around minus 30 degrees outside. And inside when we had to heat up the sleeping area to keep (us among other ) things from freezing, it felt like over 30 degrees in the top bunks. In the lower bed it would be at least 20 degrees colder. So lots of extreme differences.
