Action in Den Haag (Netherlands)

The international adventure continues - on Friday, another Forest Rescue Station container was put in place - but not in Finland. This one - which was just likes the ones we have here in the forests, was symbolically placed outside the Finnish Embassy in Den Haag (The Hague) in the Netherlands - along with a banner, strung from two streetlights, which read "Save Ancient Forests".

One of the activists, Martijn, was just back from the Finnish Forest Rescue Station - must have been a strange experience for him!

The police removed some of our activists from both the streetlights and the container, arresting twelve of them and either fining them or a court order. The activists requested to a meeting with the ambassador to explain the importance of protecting the ancient forests of Finland - the ambassador, even invited some of them inside - but a little too late, they had already been arrested by then!

It was all over the media though - the action was reported by local and national newspapers, and on radio and television. Nice work guys...

Hi Eero - I think you'll find that while Mr Kitti was formerly a parliamentarian, he hasn't been for some years.

Also - I think you'll find that a lot of people in Inari support what we're doing here.
