From the people who brought you the Statue of Liberty

Greenpeace France gave voice to a replica of the Statue of Liberty in Paris today, telling ExxonMobil to 'Stop Torching the Planet', while activists in Japan let Exxon employees know the details about their employer's attempts to sabotage international action on climate change. It's all part of Greenpeace's efforts to hold ExxonMobil accountable for their actions on the day of their Annual General Meeting.

You will recall that the original statue in New York was a gift from the people of France as a symbol of international friendship. That was a long time ago. There is also a statue of liberty in Paris, near the Eiffel Tower.

Activists raised a yellow cartoon-like speech bubble to tell ExxonMobil to stop trying to sabotage international efforts to slow climate change.

In Japan, Greenpeace activists gave pamphlets to Exxon workers entering the headquarters there, detailing the problems with Exxon's attitude and actions toward fighting climate change.

I was there. It was horrible. A man in a "French Kiss My Ass" shirt ran up and began shooting protesters in the face, and then a pink-nippled boy began humping the statue. The vision of that pink-nippled monster and the beast in his pantaloons will be with me forever...
