Read about a few of the activists who took part in this action here.
Posted by at May 27, 2003 10:33 AM | TrackBackThis reporter, recently fired from Live 105.3 can say with applicable truth and honesty, this is the most strange news day of my limited career. What started out as a worthy goal of a group of Earth minded individuals has turned out to be an unusual radio station hoax.
A local radio station has admitted on the air that they bought out all the costume store tiger suits, dressed interns in these suits and sent them out to Irving pretending to be Greenpeace activists.
A spokesman for Greenpeace had this to say "I'm trying to gather my feelings, this is a most troubling situation as we did plan on visiting Exxon soon, we were making final preparations to our rubber boats, making them street legal in Texas".
I asked the spokesman if he were serious and his response was "Absolutely, Greenpeace is known for taking on giants with our small craft, why should the fact that they are 300 miles from an ocean make this approach any different?"
Greenpeace officials provided a local news agency with diagrams showing their boats fitted with trailer home axles and tires, rumor has it that they also contain coolers filled with Pabst and Moon Pies...making for one heck of a ruckus soon to be caused in Texas...

Posted by: Bob in Dallas at May 27, 2003 01:26 PMBravo to all environmental activists, especially the ones who utilize their minds, bodies, and time to fight for the healthy future of earth. Thank you all for this meaningful demonstration. And those of you out there who are alive enough to stand up for our living planet--take community action now--every little bit builds mountains!
