Hello you lucky lot,
I met a few of you during an open day in Auckland, had a nosey onboard, shared a beer, for such a fleeting visit you have all stuck vividly in my memory onboard the inspiring mother of peace, now my own travells have come to an end, i'm full of interest in what you are all upto, and hope your going good, braving the deep seas, not going too mad with all the beauty and destruction. Another well wisher,

Just found your site tonight, brilliant peeps. Brought it home to me how we are killing off our seas and oceans. Just wish I was there with you. God speed, good luck and safe sailing.

I think this is excellent and i fully support your work. I note this morning that you will be travelling to Solomon Islands which i am looking forward to. When in Solomon Islands, can you assist my community to stop logging operation in our area. Our community has accepted last year to pilot the SPREP funded international Water Program whcih the community was excited to host but this year a logging company start cutting our trees on the islands. We took up legal case against them but until noe no decision from our high court has been made.
What do i need to do to obtain you assistant on this matter.
Just wanted to tell yall good luck and keep up the good work. The sea is all we have left.If we dont we will all be in trouble.peace

'Dirty Fecker' rescued off Co Wicklow coast
Last updated: 07-07-04, 09:26
The Dirty Fecker, a 24-foot motor launch was towed safely to Dun Laoghaire Harbour in the early hours of this morning after breaking down off Greystones, Co Wicklow while on a fishing trip.
The Dun Laoghaire all-weather lifeboat the Anna Livia was launched at 2.10am and was on the scene at 2.40am. The Dirty Fecker was towed to shore by 4.20am and the three occupants of the boat, all from the Dublin area, were brought ashore safely.
"Our initial thought was that it might be a hoax call as the name of the vessel would certainly be considered unusual", said Stephen Wynne, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Dun Laoghaire. "We are happy the Dirty Fecker and crew are safe and sound"
Took a couple of minutes today to view your latest adventures and was mightily impressed! I never knew what goes on with regards to all the destructive fishing out there. Thanks for making me aware and keep up the good work,
Cheers, Animal.

You have my total ultimate respect for what you are doing. I consider all of you only one step below God himself.
I'm sure that the majority of people think you're time on the Rainbow Warrior is just fun and excitement, but growing up on an island I know what working on a ship is like!!! Please accept my total thanks for all you do and know that I realize what you do is mostly thankless monotonous work with a little excitement and reward thrown in from time to time!!!! I truly thank you all.

Kia Ora,
Myself and a friend of mine Nick Mellor visited the Rainbow Warrior ii earlier today for the possibility of getting a chance to talk to someone about the future plans of the vessel and the possibility of working with you in some way.
Speeking for myself, I come from a strong sailing background and have been accumulating offshore sailing experience over the last 4 years on various yachts. We both surf and have a strong bond and respect for the sea.
Both myself and Nick have strong film and television skills having completed different degrees in the same field.
The reason I write is to ask for the opportunity to speak someone onboard while you are in Wellington about the possibility of being involved with your vessel in the future. We appreciate that you will all have plenty to get done while in port.
If there is any assistence we can give (I have worked on yacht maintence on and off for the last 4 years in Wellington) while you are here please let us know.
Kind Regards
Ross & Nick

Hello the Rainbow Warrior! A big thumbs up from the Big House: Logan's home back on terra firma. I had a look at some of your pictures and stories - great to see people in action! I wouldn't last an hour in an ocean boat without bringing up my last meal, so I take my hat of to you.
And we never knew Logi could write so eloquently ;-)
Anyway, if Logi is still on board, say hi from me. See you when you get back to Auckland!

wish you the best luck for the open day... hope that every one will know you better, that you'll spread the peace not terror nor fear.. good luck..

Dear Rainbow Warrior,
The future generation will remember the Rainbow Warrior and her brave crew the same way we remember the Beagle and her crew today. The Beagle might have caused the theory of evolution to be formulated, but there is no doubt the Rainbow Warrior is helping towards the theory's realization by allowing the species to continue to evolve and affect all our lives and not erased from the face of the earth.
Thank you very much for your selfless sacrifice for the generation to come.

Hi to Kat and the whole crew!
I was Kat's roommate in college when she used to come home with sucker marks on her arms from the octopus at the New England Aquarium. At least, that's what she *said* they were... Not only am I amazingly proud of her, I want to send my admiration and support to the whole crew of the Rainbow Warrior. There are a lot of us landlubbers who are behind you and your mission 100%, and reading the online log avidly.
Thanks, and have a blast out there!

Keep up the great work! Because of people like you, others around the world are becoming aware of the dangers of deep-sea trawling. The WWW is a powerful tool to deliver your message ... anyone who has access can see what's going on!
I wouldn't have the fortitude to keep at it in the cold and wet (I'm a Canadian but hate the cold - go figure), but am glad that you guys can do so and expose these miscreants.
May the weather gods be on your side and you accomplish all your goals!

All the best for your voyage. I think you are doing a fantastic job drawing attention to the harmful practice of deep sea bottom trawling. I always thought that orange roughy was harvested unethically - it's sad that the practice has not changed over so many years! Surely better methods can be used of harvesting fish sustainably and selectively. It all comes down to the conscience of individual people, whether they are hiding behind the facade of big companies or not. My personal ambition is to have a fish farm in NZ with hatcheries full of native fish fry to release back into NZ waters, but that won't work if someone else is hauling them out at the other end. So thank you for your work!

Hi Kat
We have been following with interest your exploits. Our overnight visitors have been looking over my shoulder and asking what it is all about.
I have been bragging about your fried green tomatoes, please send the recipe for the coating.
Spoke to Gary last week and looks as though a trip to Oz may be on the cards soon and then a longer trip to Europe & home to see your folks?
Hope you are having a great time, what other duties do you have on board and everyone (we looked at your crew information) wants to know what Crecow dancing is?
Also Lesley & Elaine (our visitor) want to know can they write to the Panamanian bloke!!!!!
Bit old for pen pals in my opinion
hi ya guys & gals,
just wanted to say good luck on your mission to get a moratorium put in place over deep sea trawling. i did a trip on a sandford trawler off the chatham rise and one of my duties was dumping the huge variety of different sea life that is by-catch and i was devastated at the ammount and variety that is dumped over the side each trawl. lots of black coral which means everything on the sea floor is destroyed by the " tickler " which you will know is a haevy chain and weights designed to drag along the bottom and throw everything up into the mouth of the net. i've been told that the by-catch also settles in thermo-kleins and this also causes major problems for all sea life under these cold water layers. anyway keep up the good fight.

Hi. I think you guys are doing an awesome job and it's really good to see some people really do care about the environment. It always shocks me how governments can spend so much researching things on distant planets, while they destroy the world they share with over 8 billion other people. Keep up the good work.

Gang,
great to see you in lively colour on the www. Site looks great & the background on the crew really helps the "mystique" some people see in GP.
My experience working onboard the ship (everything looks so familiar in the pics!) will not be forgotten.
Johnny Cash & Leornard Coen on the open seas at night will not be forgotten.
3-4hrs sleep per night will not be forgotten.
The Auckland welcoming will not be forgotten.
G'day to Stu & cheers to Emma for the relentless energy!
Keep up the great work, all.

Liked the story on inflatables and using them properly. We use them in our yacht races for referee boats and course markers. Loaded with GPS for pinpoint reference.
Need a Zodiac pilot? Best of luck and let's save these seas we love so much.

Hello, valiant crew of the Rainbow Warrior!
I am a high school senior from Long Island, NY, and first learned about Greenpeace's history in 10th grade. I remember reading Robert Hunter's book, "Warriors of the Rainbow". I was awed and inspired by the courage and strength of will those people had. Reading about the continuing actions of Greenpeace further inspires me to fight to protect the oceans.
Good luck and safe journey to all of the crew, and thank you!
Sincerely,
Sharon B.

Hi guys. Good to read of your plight and endeavours. I am a keen pleasure fisherman off the coast of Taranaki and interested in your voyages . Nets are certainly a destructive and dangerous method of fishing . Their presence here is now much reduced which is good . Imagine you're sheltering up at present . Will keep following you. Good Luck, Greg

Hello intrepid Rainbow Warrior/NZ crew.
Greetings from the wet UK, and your counterparts in the London office.
Your weblogs are bringing it all back to me. Although I'm glad we had a bigger ship to brave our storms!
I hope the Johnny Cash isn't getting overbearing (and remember - regardless of how tempting it may be - throwing a CD over the side is litter and that's bad, m'kay?). Say hi to the dolphins for us, and tell them we're still doing our best for their whinging pommie (and European) relatives over on this side of the globe.
Hi guys, hope the weather is getting better for you. I just wanted to say thanks for a fantastic day on the ship. I was working for GP NZ as a frontliner for 6 months and the day I worked on RW was my final day before leaving for England and another summer.
You guys rock.

I'm doing an article on Rainbow Warrior and saw a photo of Bunny next to a memorial artwork for the sunken RainbowWarrior somewhere in the port of Auckland.I have looked around Quay Street but can't find it! Would appreciate if you can mail me where exactly it is (or isn't anymore).

Hi to the crew!
I just wondered how all the crew members got their positions working on the Rainbow Warrior or with Greenpeace in general. (I hope to join Greenpeace when I finish my degree!)
As you guys leave for the High Seas, we are going through the final preparations for UNICPOLOS in New York. Tomorrow we will send letters to all 186 UN Missions telling them of your journey and asking them to sign on to the call for a moratorium. All on the political team are ready to do our part to make this happen, and look forward to your reports to strengthen our work at the UN.
