Defending the North Sea

Comments: Seal time

Dear Greenpeace

Well done!! Our heritage needs all the help and protection it can get. Sensitive/selective fishing methods have surely got to be implemented. Before its too late.

My family are lucky enough to live on the Shetlands and delight in the unspoilt scenery and wildlife. That on land, in the air and the sea.

The seabird numbers are down this year and the best theory is that this is a direct result of a reduction in sand eels. Consequently they are not being fished in specifc area/s to try and protect and boost their numbers. Hope it works.

Hope you're not too late for the puffins - Sumburgh Head well known spotting point. Seeing the youngsters riding the 'strong breezes' before 'landing' back on the cliffs is wonderful.

Best regards
