Comments: Case Dismissed!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations and thanks to Federal Judge Adalberto Jordan who had the strength and legal lucidity necessary to see the governments trumped up case as the sham that it really was!

Just wanted to say good work to the team in Miami, all the activists who've supported a fantastic organization at a time when support doesn't come very easily. Score 1 for Greenpeace, 0 for evil Bush-controlled prosecutors! Thank you, Greenpeace for being the glimmer of hope in very dark days. Thank you, Greenpeace, for proving that good can triumph over evil. Thank you, Greenpeace, for overcoming the odds. Thank you, Greenpeace, for protecting the world's forests and taking the fight all the way to the top. A great big thanks to Judge Jordan, the people of Miami and all those people pulling for the right thing to happen!

Have a mojito for me-- I'm there with you in spirit.

For a green and peaceful future,
Steve-o

This was a memorable day and I have to thank the legal team and Judge Jordan for making sure justice was served today in Miami. My heart was pounding as he read his decision and let me tell you... it was such a great moment, one that will stay with me forever! Thank You Greenpeace for doing what you do!

I was actually scared to death that John Ashcroft and his "Justice" Department would've won and that peaceful demonstrations would be a thing of the past. This Adminstration has converted me to a pessimist, and I hate them for it.

Sometimes it's hard to be optimistic, when life has been so pessimistic. When I heard the news I actually started to cry, I was overwhelmed with joy : ) Just wanna say Thanks to everyone involved for doing such a brilliant job. Nice work!!!

I'm still in shock that we won so fast. This case has reaffirmed what I have always felt about activist work. For months or years, you can be working on a problem without seeing any results. You get discouraged, you lose faith in humanity, you start to wonder if it really is easier to pretend that these problem don't exist. But you continue fighting regardless, and one day, like the sun breaking through the clouds on a miserable day, everything changes - and it is glorious.

This victory wouldn't have been possible without the work of hundreds of people. Major thanks are in order!

Thanks to all the Greenpeace staff for your dedicated work globally, and the light you have spread in Miami.

Thanks to our volunteers in our Miami chapter for building the contacts and community and local awareness without which Greenpeace would have fought this battle alone. You guys have been my family in the last six months. I love you all dearly.

Thanks to all the local groups that reached out and supported us, recognizing how significant this victory would be.

Thanks to everyone that came to a silent protest, handed out a flyer, participated in our email action, or spoke to someone else about this trial and what it meant for all of us.

I feel blessed that I have been able to play a role in this victory, but I feel even more blessed that I have come to know so many brothers and sisters working towards the same goals. Together we will reach them.

With deepest gratitude,

Erik Ofengand

What is great about all this is that the folks from Greenpeace and the other cool people worldwide saw that we can, and we do win, no matter whether it is a tree sit or court stand.

I have heard a lot of talk lately in the line of "They do and will do what they want. They don't care about anybody or anything anymore, domestically or internationally."

The Miami trial showed that doing what we do is not always what looks like an uphill struggle of futility, even if it is fighting the good cause. We do it also because we do win, and win big.

Maybe the judge decision sounds like a technicality catch, but I believe the judge would never throw the case out if he thought Greenpeace just may have done something wrong which could be proven during proceedings.
