A pirate in our midst?

As we await official confirmation from the Estonian government on the status of the Toxic Death Ship, we have discovered that one of our campaigners now bears an uncanny resemblance to the logo we have been putting on suspicious supermarket products and suspect ships, and I couldn't help but share this.

Our oceans campaigner Frode, hereby referred to pirate-style as The Deadeyed Norseman, accidentally spilt paint in his eye while emblazoning the Toxic Death Ship, Probo Koala, with "EU TOXIC CRIME SCENE". This has required a novel and yet strangely appropriate form of medical attention - an eyepatch. But that's not the only attention he got. Frode says, "Arrrr, today I be cruisin' alongside the landlubbin' authorities when blow me down but they be askin' me...."

Ok he didn't really say that. He did say however that when he was approached by authorities yesterday afternoon one of them grinned at him and said "Hello pirate!". (I was going to politely enquire whether he then did any swashbuckling but I suppose that might have belied his - and my - *ahem* very serious commitment to the Baltic cod campaign which is battling against a far more serious form of pirate.)

We wish you a speedy recovery Frode, or at the very least good luck making a cup of tea with one eye in that weather. Hopefully now pirate fishermen everywhere will be just as scared of you as the cod are of them ....

Congratulations on a job well done! I think that you have, apart from achieving the immediate good result of stopping the toxic ship from moving on, also opened a lot of people's eyes here in Estonia! This may well have a healthy influence on environmental debate here in general.

Congratulations on your successful blockade. You all played an important part in bringing this scandel to the attention of the EU. I felt passionate for the people of Abidjan that they should not be the dumping ground of toxic waste for other peoples wealth. I lived in Abidjan and I still care for them. I feel now perhaps there will be justice.
