ESPERANZA
CREW: OdinDeckhand Aaros/Norway For how long have you been in Greenpeace? I have been working for Greenpeace aboat one year. I started out as a volunteer and was so fortunate to go to Iceland summer 2004, where I met Esperanza and some of her crew for the first time. I spent one month working with the land-team talking with people about Greenpeace work and campaigns. Something that was a very good and inspiring experience. I also got to know some of the crew, who suggested that I should apply for a job as an electrician. Since I have an apprenticeship in Automation (A mix between electrical and mechanical engineering + computers) and a background from electro. I decided to apply, and two weeks after i got home, I got a reply saying that I got a job. The time before started my job, I worked as a volunteer in a marine reserves campaign in the baltic. After that I joined as crew for three months. Where we amongst other things spent a long campaign in the northatlantic to do research and protect the fragile deep sea reefs on the Atlantic ridge. On the same trip I also met a beautiful girl that I love very much. For the time being she is in the pacific on the rainbow warrior. So I'm looking forward to see her in three months when we reunite. I am in Greenpeace because it gives me a chance to really do something to protect our planet and to show people what is really going on. Meet fantastic people and maybe even inspire someone. It is a hard work and often things does not go our way. But sometimes our work lead to change. So it is important not to loose hope of a better future. On the perfect day off, what do you do? On a perfect day off I would spend time with my girlfriend out in the nature :) |
